15th Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium Article June 2023

The annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium was held May 22-23, 2023. The PMI Dallas Chapter, in cooperation with UT Dallas and PM World Journal, provided the volunteer manpower behind the scenes to make the event a success. Volunteers help keep the cost of the event low and provide a great way to earn PDUs.  This year our volunteer team was led by the outstanding efforts of Sigal Dor, with the enthusiastic and capable support of Mary Saunders, Judy Cephus and Chucks Samuel.

One of the long-term attendees summed up the event:

“UTD PM Symposium is always a great brain break for me.  This year was no exception.  I live in Dallas but the opportunity to be exposed to so many project managers sharing their experience is kind of like a local vacation for me! The opportunities to meet and share with colleagues is especially important as I often work by myself and the conference becomes a great break from my routine.

The keynotes I attended were very interesting, providing food for thought on various topics from the economy to career.  The trackroom speakers I got to hear were all very good and very interesting.  Finishing off the second day with a panel discussion on AI was very interesting.  We probably should make this a habit of gathering at the end for a panel discussion.

Over the years I have attended most of the symposiums, it is great to see the spirit alive and thriving after Covid!”

A member of the Steering Committee commented:

“This year’s UT Dallas PM Symposium was the best one ever, and one of the better conferences that I have attended anywhere.  The keynotes were outstanding, the paper presentations interesting, and the attitudes and opinions of attendees seemed really high.

Everyone was friendly and the event went very smoothly.  Hat’s off to Jeanette Henriques and her team at UTD, and to the PMI Dallas Chapter volunteers, for such an outstanding event.  I was proud to be associated with the symposium.  We all learned something new and it was fun this year!”
