A Word From Our President, September 2019
September 4, 2019,
Hello Members and Friends,
"Crazy Busy". It's a common refrain heard from friends, colleagues, and everyone in between. In this era of go-go-go where work is available at our fingertips 24/7, how does work-life balance come into play? Balance is critical, especially for project managers juggling stakeholders, timelines and surprises, but what does it mean? That answer has as many different answers as there are people, but ultimately, for me, it comes down to taking stock of priorities and finding a balance between career, interests, people and places that bring us joy, fill us with a sense of community and make our hearts sing. Worth a moment of contemplation during a "crazy busy day"…
Is Project Management part of your bliss? If so, we have some great opportunities for you this month! Come learn about Networking at our popular monthly dinner meeting September 12th. Michael Goldberg will be speaking on "Always be Networking. The importance of why networking is vital to your career success." Join us before the dinner at 6 pm for the PM Think Tank Session on topics of interest to project managers AND get a free 1/2 PDU! Speaking of PDUs, come listen to Dwaraka Iyengar at our breakfast meeting in Plano on September 14th. Mr. Iyengar will be discussing "C.A.L.M. your Project Environment" on ways to reduce tension within projects. We'll host our Networking Hour at Blue Mesa in Addison on September 18th from 6:00- 8:00 PM. Gearing up to take the PMP Exam? Attend our PMP Exam Review prep all day September 21st and earn 8 technical PDUs. We'll also be hosting a Toastmaster's session in Plano on September 21st. Finally, make it a power lunch and join us at our Lunch and Learns in Dallas and Plano on August 30th!
