Keynote Synopsis

Three specific areas will be covered.

  1. The history of Project Management, specifically the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  2. The future of Project Management, specifically trends and tools that may be supporting Project Managements future.
  3. The present - Servant Leadership as a key mindset in Project Management

John Campbell -- will discuss the History of Project Management from the viewpoint of PMI which started in 1960 and today has 865,000 PMP Certified Project Managers and offers certifications in multiple PM related areas.

Craig Winder -- will discuss Future tools for Project Management. This session will focus on current tools, tomorrow’s tools and then working to the future.

The key technology that will drive us to the future is Artificial Intelligence. As these technologies become more sophisticated it is anticipated they will move into areas of project management, some of which, will be addressed in this session. The key issues that businesses are looking to address for the future are: increasing the value added by their employees, removing waste and increasing quality. We see this is happening by moving people up to higher performance levels by automation of routine and semi-routine tasks through artificial intelligence. That is, people will be solving issues that a sophisticated robot cannot.

Gary Rechtfertig – will discuss Servant Leadership, a relatively new leadership technique endorsed by PMI. Servant Leadership has been described s a powerhouse leadership style that will transform your culture and impact your bottom line. Companies like Southwest Airlines and Whole Foods have found they have leaders who are “people centric,” who value service to others and believe they have a duty of stewardship. Nearly all are humble and passionate operators who are deeply involved in the details of their business. It is this servant culture led by a servant leader that allows companies to thrive.

We will explore How to recognize this type of culture, what are core principles to apply to your environment to become a servant leader culture. Servant leaders have to ask themselves – Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become wiser, healthier, and more productive? Servant Leaders are not unassertive BUT actually perform at a high level.
