A Word From Our President, March, 2019

Dear Members and Friends,

March is here and we continue to celebrate our 35th Anniversary serving project managers around Dallas. It is amazing to look back on how the Chapter has grown through the years! Looking forward, the leadership team and our volunteers are marching into the future, planning activities and events that provide value for members, networking opportunities, and skills development for project management professionals in the Dallas area.

Of the four Chapter initiatives I discussed last month, helping you grow during your career through our membership programs and events is an important strategy. Member appreciation is also important and we are working on two exclusive events for members to connect, network, and have fun this spring and summer. We will be announcing upcoming events soon through our member communications.

Are you planning to attend UT Dallas Project Management Symposium 2019? This year’s theme is Project Management in a VUCA World. VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) is an interesting concept, developed by the U.S. Army War College and growing quickly in the business world. Symposium is a vital event featuring leaders and influencers in the project management and business community. May 21-22, 2019, University of Texas at Dallas.

At this month’s Dinner Meeting March 14, be sure to come network, dine, and hear Edward Haskin discuss top priorities for every project manager, especially risk management. Edward’s extensive career in finance, risk management, compliance, and project management provide valuable insights to controlling and mitigating risks with specific examples, lessons learned, and trends.

Our Breakfast Meeting is March 9 in Plano. The PMI Dallas Toastmasters meeting is March 16 and we are hosting a Social Hour March 20. Finally, the popular PMP Exam Review is March 20 with Lunch and Learn meetings in Dallas/Addison and Plano March 29.

Please follow our social media sites on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter for the latest Chapter news and the Events Calendar for Chapter activities.

Have a great month and thank you for supporting the Chapter during our 35th Anniversary. I hope to see you at some of our events.

Joe Carson, PMP
